PATCH NOTES 0.30.0 – Apr 13 2021

Eternal Return will undergo temporary maintenance starting Tuesday, April 13th from 7 PM to around 10 PM PT to apply the 0.30.0 update.

Hey gang, your friend Aesop here. It looks like it’s that time again; time for the bi-weekly BIG patch. We’ve got a lot of things happening in this patch – Alex will be infiltrating Lumia Island with extra abilities, Lieutenant Fiora takes command, new items, in-game friend system (finally) and perhaps most importantly, a NEW LEMON IMAGE!!

Let us begin.

New Character – Alex

The mysterious linguist is making his entrance to Lumia Island.

For the first week, he’ll cost 9,900 A-Coin and will not be available in Ranked matches.

Infiltration (Passive)

Alex infiltrates and turns invisible after 7 seconds of not attacking, starting from level 6. Enemies cannot see Alex when outside of his detection range.

While invisible, his movement speed is increased if an enemy is within a certain range. His weapon mastery levels all increase equally.

When equipped with a melee weapon, his HP increases by (50/100/150) and his defense increases by (5/10/15).

  • Infiltration detection range: 7m
  • (Day) Infiltration caution range : 12m
  • (Night) Infiltration caution range : 10m

Gauss Pistol (Ranged Q)

Alex fires his gauss pistol, dealing 40/80/120/160/200(+Attack Power 30%) damage to enemies hit.

If Gauss Pistol hits an enemy, Alex’s attack power is increased by 4% for 12 seconds.

He gains up to 3 stacks from this and from Incursion (Melee Q).

Recognition Signal (Ranged W)

Alex launches a signal in the targeted area, dealing 40/60/80/100/120 (+Attack Power 30%) damage to enemies in range and granting him vision for 1.6/1.8/2.0/2.2/2.4 seconds.

Hitting an enemy increases his normal attack range by 1.5m for 1.6/1.8/2.0/2.2/2.4 seconds.

Blowback (Ranged E)

Passive: Alex’s attack speed is increased by 3/6/9/12/15%.

He throws an electric shuriken in the targeted direction, dealing 40/60/80/100/120 (+Attack Power 30%) damage to enemies hit, stepping backwards, and becoming invisible. Enemies hit are slowed by 70%, decaying after 1.5 seconds.

Remaining invisible for 1 second after using the skill allows Alex to swap weapons once within 5 seconds. Disabling invisibility or changing weapons cancels the effect.

Infiltration invisibility only occurs starting at level 6.

Incursion (Melee Q)

Alex charges towards his target, dealing 30/65/100/135/170 (+Attack Power 30%) damage.

Hitting enemies increases his attack power by 4% for 12 seconds. He can gain up to 3 stacks from this and Gauss Pistol (Ranged Q).

  • SP cost : 50/55/60/65/70
  • Range : 4m

Dead Drop (Melee W)

Alex tosses his Dead Drop in a targeted location, dealing 60/90/120/150/180 (+Attack Power 40%) damage to enemies in range after 0.7 seconds and pulling them to the center.

  • Range : 6.5m
  • Damage range : 2.2m

Double Agent (Melee E)

Passive: Alex’s Critical Strike Chance is increased by 3/6/9/12/15%. While the hologram remains for 5 seconds, the Critical Strike Chance from his passive is multiplied by 2.

Alex dashes in the targeted direction, going invisible and leaving behind a hologram.

The hologram taunts enemies in range, forcing them to attack it for 1 second.

After using the skill and staying invisible for 1 second, he can swap his weapon. Infiltration invisibility lasts 5 seconds and breaking invisibility or swapping weapons cancels the effect.

Infiltration invisibility only occurs starting at level 6.

  • Taunting range : 2.5m

EMP Barrage (R)

Alex calls in a strike at a targeted location, dealing 60/90/120 (+Attack Power 40%) damage to enemies in range and 100/125/150 (+Attack Power 50%) damage to enemies in the center.

Enemies hit are slowed by 40% for 0.4 seconds.

The missile then pulses a total of 8 times every 0.5 seconds, dealing 40/60/80 (+Attack Power 30%) damage and 60/80/100 (+Attack Power 40%) damage to enemies in the center. Enemies hit are slowed by 30% for 0.4 seconds.

Season Rewards

Season rewards will be sent on April 14th 8 AM (PT).

Players that reached Gold or higher will receive Cadet Yuki.

Players that reached Platinum or higher will receive the Taunty Heart emote.

Players that reached Diamond+ will receive NP. The amount will vary based on tier.

System

In-game Friend and Messaging system

An easier and more convenient way to find, add, and play with friends!

  • We have been using Steam’s function to add friends, but we quickly realized that it was frankly kind of annoying and inconvenient to use, and also presented issues being tied to Steam servers.
  • We’ve implemented our own friend system, allowing you to find and add friends by searching their nicknames.
  • You will also be able to add friends in the results screen, and custom game lobby.
  • You will be able to add up to 100 friends.
  • In the chat, you can use the command “w/” to send a message (whisper) to a friend and “/r” to reply to the latest message you received.
  • This is the first step on our Friends/Chatting improvements. We will continue to use the Steam system for forming teams and finding matches. However, we are planning to change this process in the near future and implement more independent functions, like chat in the result screen.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

Main Improvements

  • In custom games, the room owner will be able to become a spectator and rearrange participants.
  • The ‘Target players only’ option is now changed to only be active while holding the designated key. The original toggle option can be selected in the settings.
  • We have added a View completed items only filter when searching for Items.

Gameplay Improvements

  • Throw/Shuriken weapons obtained by looting players now consume ammo correctly and no longer use 2 stacks at a time
  • Players who are feared/charmed while rooted can no longer move (knockbacks or grabs still work)
  • Attack sounds for melee hitting Surveillance Cameras now properly work
  • Wild animals no longer lose aggro when their target moves out of vision
  • Pairs of wolves now correctly lose aggro when using Howl after the other wolf turns back
  • Teammates that leave a match can now be properly looted in Team modes.
  • Changed the movement key for moving in expanded minimap(M) from Ctrl+Left Click to Shift+Left Click.

Character/Weapon Improvements

  • The damage over time of Wickeline’s buff no longer affects character skills with stacks. Ex: Hyunwoo’s Dogfight (P), Aya’s Justice, Isol’s Semtex Bomb.
  • Rozzi: Flutter now accurately applies healing reduction
  • Rozzi: Gun Vault’s untargetable duration no longer ends when not completing full vault if blocked by terrain
  • Luke: Clean Sweep (Q)’s second active is now properly stopped by CC
  • Li Dailin: the Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) bar no longer changes color when another Li Dailin enters Tipsy
  • Li Dailin, Hart: Queued move commands are no longer canceled when using Spirited Kick (Q) or Flanger (E) in quick succession
  • Barbara: Sentry Gun (Q) now accurately displays its attack range when hit with Free-Electron Laser(W)

Lobby Improvements

  • Loading pop-up no longer freezes while reconnecting
  • Chat UI in the results screen improved
  • The rightmost character in the squad victory screen will no longer be covered.
  • Build version will be shown in Settings.
  • Tooltips in routes are now displayed in a better position
  • Session no longer times out when match-matching becomes longer
  • Items and the UI no longer displays incorrectly when registering 6 items during route creation.
  • Game no longer crashes after Tutorial > Quit Game > Restarting the same tutorial
  • The death screen is now properly displayed during custom matches
  • You can no longer report enemies under teammate specific reasons in team modes
  • You can no longer report yourself after a game (I mean, you can still send us a ticket if you’re that unhappy with your own behavior…)
  • Report reasons no longer overlap
  • Chatting in route/plan selection no longer stops working correctly after some time.
