PATCH NOTES 0.49.0 – JANUARY 5TH, 2022

Happy new year!! Aesop here with the first patch of 2022. Exciting, isn’t it? We’ve got a whole new year of patch notes ahead! Alright, let’s take things one step at a time. Here’s all the patch notes for the big update with Mai!

Servers will go down January 5th at 6 PM (PT) to apply Update 0.49.0.

New Character - Mai

“I… really hate doing this.”

The whip wielding designer and CEO of David has arrived on Lumia Island!

Mai will cost 9,900 A-Coin during the first 2 weeks after release. She will be available in ranked matches starting from January 11th (KST).

Haute Couture (Passive)

Mai's basic attacks deal a percent of her defense as extra damage. This damage is increased for each of her active Pins.
Mai gains a Pin when damaging enemies with Drape or Shawl Veil.

Pins are reset upon exiting combat. Mai can increase her maximum Pins by leveling Haute Couture.

Fashion Forward: Mai is able to craft Mithril Crop, Áo Dài, and Phantom Jacket.

  • Extra Damage based on Defense : 8/12/16%

  • Damage Increase per Pin : 6.5%

  • Max Pins : 2/3/4

Drape (Q)

Mai whips her shawl, dealing 10/55/100/145/190(+Attack Power 45%) damage to enemies in range.

Mai gains 1 Pin for each enemy test subject hit and 1 Pin for hitting wild animals, regardless of how many animals she hits.

  • Range : Radius 2m (Excludes Inner 1m)

  • SP Cost : 70/65/60/55/50

  • Cooldown : 5/4.5/4/3.5/3s

Shawl Veil (W)

Mai veils herself with her shawl for 1.25 seconds. While veiled, basic attacks against her deal 1 damage, her defense is increased, and she gradually gains movement speed.

The veil then explodes, dealing 50/80/110/140/170(+Attack Power 50%) damage to enemies in range.

Mai can hold up to 2 charges and can use the skill every 4 seconds. Mai's basic attacks reduce the recharge cooldown by 1 second.

Damaging an enemy test subject with Shaw Veil grants 1 Pin, regardless of how many subjects she hits. Taking skill damage during Shawl Veil grants Mai 1 Pin.

  • Defense Increase : 20/22/24/26/28%

  • Movement Speed Increase : 20/24/28/32/36%

  • Range : Radius 2.25m (Excludes Inner 1m)

  • SP Cost : 50

  • Charge Time : 28/26.5/25/23.5/22s

Catwalk (E)

Mai dashes to an allied player, camera, or enemy. She then gains a shield, absorbing 50/80/110/140/170(+Attack Power 30%) damage for 2 seconds.

Targeting an ally shields them for the same amount and reduces the cooldown of Catwalk by 40%.

When using Catwalk with at least 2 or more Pins, Mai consumes 2 of them, enabling her to use Strut.

Strut: Mai dashes in the targeted direction, dealing 50/80/110/140/170(+Attack Power 45%) damage to enemies in range and taunting them for 1.35 seconds. Must be cast within 4 seconds.

E1E2 Recast Cooldown : 0.2s

  • Cat Walk Range : 5m

  • Strut Range : 4m

  • Attack Range : Width 1.2m

  • SP Cost : 70 → 65/70/75/80/85

  • Cooldown : 18/17/16/15/14s

Exclusive (R)

Mai manipulates her trademark shawl with different effects on enemies and allies.

Enemy Cast: Can only be used with at least 2 or more Pins. Mai consumes 2 Pins to entangle her target, making them invincible and suppressed for 1.2 seconds. After 1.2 seconds, Mai deals up to 50/100/150(+Attack Power 60%)(+Defense 24/30/36%) true damage to them based on their current HP.

Ally Cast: Mai pulls her ally towards her, making them invincible and suppressed for 0.5 seconds. After 0.5 seconds, the ally is healed for 25/50/75(+Attack Power 30%)(+Defense 12/15/18%). Casting Exclusive on ally decreases its cooldown by 20%.

  • Range (Enemy Cast) : 3.25m

  • Range (Ally Cast) : 6m

  • SP Cost : 100/120/140

  • Cooldown : 75/65/55s

  • Teams will no longer sometimes implode after a game has ended.

  • Various other bugs have been fixed overall.

Known issues currently undergoing development
  • Fog of War & Vision Issue

    • CCTVs showing vision that should not be visible/CCTVs not providing vision of places that need to be visible.

    • Thread between Chloe and Nina being visible through fog of war.

    • Other skill effects being visible through fog of war (Shoichi’s Bottom Line, Jan’s The Tetragon)

    • We’re currently fixing the base logic regarding the entirety of Vision. This also includes the tweaking and checking of skills or movements that provide vision.

  • Bianca Sanctuary (W) Cancel Bug

    • There’s a lot of issues surrounding this bug, side effects have appeared each time we tried to solve it.

    • We’re currently restructuring this skill from the ground up.

  • Alex’s Caltrops (D) disappearing under certain circumstances.

    • This actually turned out to be a somewhat easy fix but due to internal miscommunication regarding COVID, the fix was pushed back later than intended. (Our bad…)

The issues above are planned to be resolved in the upcoming 0.50 update.

We’re aware of pretty much every bug that you all report to us. We’re constantly fixing them, but the nature of bugfixing is… frustrating for us.

We target approximately 50~100 bugs per patch, and we typically patch bugs that are easy to fix ASAP.

However, some issues require us an entire skill or system restructure - or in some cases, an entire deletion and restart from scratch. Issues like the Bianca one require a lot of work, coding, and time. Fix it and we get a new broken thing somewhere else.

We’re aware that you’re all experiencing more annoyances due to a lot of complex bugs lately. Many people have suggested holding off on new character and feature releases to focus on bugs, but I assure you that everyone that should be working on the bugs are! It may seem like we’re just making excuses, but we’re sincerely deeply sorry for all the bugs and the time that it takes to fix them.

As a token of appreciate for you all sticking with us despite these annoyances, we’re giving out 300 NP for you to put towards your next purchase!

  • Coupon Code: FIXBUGFIXBUG

  • Coupon Period: After January 5th maintenance ~ January 10th 07:00 (PT)

  • P.S: You must use the coupon during this period, and can keep it permanently. (Yep, it’s not Event NP!)
