PATCH NOTES 1.17 - March 14th, 2024

Servers will be temporarily offline for an estimated time of 4 hours on March 14th from 2 AM to 6 AM (UTC) to update Patch 1.17.


New Skins & Emotes

Spirit Hunter Yuki (Epic) will be availble.

You can exchange Change Tokens for the Spirit Hunter Yuki skin in Forging → Exchange.

Item Probabilities Changes

  • Starting March 22nd, 2024 we will change the way on how we disclose information on items subject to probabilites, including the contents and quantity of such items.

  • We're removing variable quantities for some items obtained through opening boxes and dissassembling, shifting to fixed quantities instead.

  • Now, the information on item probabilities for both boxes and disassembling will detail the item type, rarity, and the chance percentages to five decimal places.

  • You can check the updated probabilities on our official website on Thursday, March 14th after maintenance.

System

Communication Improvements

Now, when an Alt or Shift ping is coming from outside the visible area, the direction of the ping will be displayed on the edge of your screen.

  • This improvement will onply be applied to pings within a 40m radius from your screen location. Pings from outside this area will not be displayed.


The functions that allow you to Mute communication will be overhauled.

  • We're introducing an additional "Mute" button in the Scoreboard (Tab). Clicking it will block all forms of communication from a specific player (Pings, Emotes, Chat), allowing you to selectively re-enable only the ones you wish to receive.

  • You can also still enable the option to “Mute” all enemy players' Emotes at once by going to Settings > Game > Mute Enemy Emotes.


Other Improvements

  • Now, your character icon on the bottom of the bottom of the screen will also change to show when you’re downed or dead.

  • We're enhancing the visibility of notifications on your screen by keeping the red dot for new content and introducing a green mark to indicate newly received rewards.


Gameplay

Active changes to Augments, Tactical Skills, and Items, can synergize with other elements, including changes to Characters, to produce unexpected outcomes. For this reason, we slowed down a bit on these changes mid-season during Season 2. However, Eternal Return still tends to optimize gameplay and solidify it faster than other games that emphasize team vs team counterplays.

This season, we aim to more actively adjust underutilized Augments, Tactical Skills, Items, and Characters, and bring changes to the game's meta. Should unexpected results arise, we plan to respond more swiftly and adjust our approach accordingly.


Critical Strike

Critical Strike-based Ranged Auto Attack Damage Dealers are pretty weak early on but become strong in late game. However, in the current meta, where engagement is important, they tend to be less welcomed by teammates who have to endure early game practically on their own. This is why we're significantly adjusting the power curve of Critical Strikes, and instead of just increasing damage dealt from the beginning, we’re also adjusting the damage increase gained when building Legendary items as you’ll be able to see below on the Characters section. Due to the relatively large scale of this change, we will keep monitoring them in case further adjustments are needed.

  • Critical Strike Damage 165% → 175%


Downed State

Currently, the Max HP of downed test subjects becomes too low during late game if they have been downed multiple times, so we’re addressing this issue on this update.

  • Now, even if you continue to fall on a downed state, your Max HP will not continuously decrease.

  • However, we are decreasing the durability of downed subjects by lowering their Base Max HP.

    • Max HP when downed 500 → 400


Wild Animals

Now, Wild Animals will also drop Shirt and Running Shoes at a certain probability.

  • Boars

    • Boars will drop Shirts at a certain probability!

    • This is also applied to Mutant Boars.

  • Wild Dogs

    • Wild Dogs will drop Running Shoes at a certain probability!

Emma

Emma’s skill didn’t have much room for enemies to respond, so we’ve removed the root effect in order to keep in check plays that actually match all the skills. However, she does have some stats that are not looking good so we’re increasing her battle power to compensate.

William currently has a low pick rate and average score gain, so we're shortening the duration the balls bounce in order to make strategic plays more rewarding. Additionally, we're lowering the cooldown of his skill in the early game to offset scenarios where he misses out on Enemy Kill Effects and is unable to re-engage in battle.

Ly Anh

Ly Anh uses her basic skill with wild animals to becomes Possessed. She then utilizes her Dagger weapon skill, and swiftly launches a surprise attack with her Q. In order to provide opponents with a better chance to react and to balance her high average score gain, we're reducing the root duration of her attacks.

Zahir

Zahir’s weapon stats are very strong at the moment, so we’re reducing the damage of his passive and decreasing the airborne duration applied by his to keep in check plays that can neutralize enemies momentarily.

To address this, we're adjusting the power of her skill to balance her growth curve. Despite previous adjustments, Jenny still dominates in controlling distance, so we're shortening the duration of the movement speed reduction applied by her skill and adjusting the skill's values.

Gameplay Improvements

  • Now, when you choose to cancel a queue, you'll see a "Canceling Match..." notification until the cancellation is successfully processed.

  • We’re adding a guide for when items in your Saved Plans are automatically replaced in late game.

  • Item crafting quantities will now be displayed in the description rather than in the item tree.

  • Default Augments list will change.

    • Fortification: Dine n' Dash → Steadfast

  • The enemy’s CCTV vision range will now be correctly removed when capturing a Security Console that is being captured by such enemy.

  • You will now get Credits normally when operating a Security Console.

  • You will correctly get mastery whenever you level up.

  • All late game items will now be correctly displayed whenever you select a Recommended Saved Plan that you do not own during the game preparation phase.

  • Downed skills will now correctly work and will not be usable when players are being revived by their allies.

  • The icon for attacking animals will no longer be displayed whenever a wild animal spawns.

  • Swift Strides will now be correctly displaed in all item tooltips.

  • You will no longer see an image of the cursor saying “unusable” whenever you hover your mouse over a Kiosk within a Battle Zone.

  • Security Consoles will now normally change colors when they’re ocuppied.

  • You will now be able to normally use the Retreat pin in the minimap or expanded map.

  • Cobalt Protocol: Your number of surveillance cameras will no longer decrease after reviving.

  • Cobalt Protocol: A dodge marker will no longer be displayed whenever you kill a test subject.


Character & Weapon Improvements

  • Daniel: Dusk Shears (Q)'s Attack Speed value will now normally increase in the stats info.

  • Rozzi: Her voice will now be correctly displayed in all languages even when using her Weapon Skill.

  • Adela: Her Kinght will no longer be able to move somewhere it can move whenever it is placed somewhere it can’t move.

  • Widriana: Oil Slick (W)'s fire will now be correctly spilled.

  • Store Manager Aiden: Lightning Strike (Q)'s effects will no longer be visible in the combat fog.

  • Echion: Damage will now be correctly applied when using Envenomization Deathadder continuously.

  • Jackie: Chainsaw Murderer (R) will no longer triggle a battle alarm to allies and spectators.

  • Chloe: You will now be able to move back to lobby normally whenever you select her on Practice Mode.

  • Priya: Celestial Echo’s effect will now be correctly displayed when this item is crafted.


Lobby Improvements

  • Grace points will no longer incorrectly display 0 points when in Diamond tier.

  • In some cases a dodge penalty was applied incorrectly after the game ended. This will no longer happen.

  • Your selected matchmaking region will now be displayed and you’ll also get a notification for your most played server in the team lobby.

  • Today’s Missions will now be correctly displayed.

  • Reward tooltips will now be correctly displayed in Forging.

  • You will no longer be able to set a Saved Plan name as blank.

  • The Friend reques button in Friends List > Find Friends will no longer be enabled after a certain period of time it was disabled by the player.

  • The tactical skills you select on Create a Saved Plan > Tactical Skills will now be correctly displayed.

  • You will now no longer be able to use the Save or Reset Wheel funtions whenever you Preview a Spray and drag your cursor or double click.
